Sound files are available in two formats:

.wav

Realplayer (.ram)

  • wav sample WAV format offers higher quality but takes forever to download. Your computer is already equipped with the program that plays these files. Click on the icon now to hear a .wav sample. A dialogue box will appear: you can choose to either save the soundfile on your hard disk or to open it on its current location, which means it will not be stored on your computer.
  • Realplayer sample REALPLAYer files are much much faster to download and the quality is pretty good. But to play them you need the REALPLAYER plugin. You can download it for free and install on your computer by clicking the icon below. It is a very good idea to have the plugin, since realplay is the default format for a lot of video and audio files, starting with the stuff that you find on the CNN site, for instance. Click on the icon now to hear a .ram sample.
